Joseph, who was better known as Paul, or JP, was born in Berlin, on August 26, 1933, the son of the late Armand & Valeda (Allen) Nadeau. He graduated from Notre Dame High School and enlisted in the United States Airforce upon graduation. He served during the Korean War era as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Puerto Rico for most of his 4 years. When he returned home, he worked for several years in the logging industry. In the early 1970’s, he went into business for himself and owned/operated J&M Lumber & Construction until his retirement in 1990.
Paul was married to the love of his life, Priscille (Houle) Nadeau for 63 years, and together they raised two children, James and Christine. Paul loved to help anyone whenever he could, asking nothing in return. He was a very humble, soft spoken, easy-going man. He always managed to put a smile on everyone’s face with his pranks, quick wit and sense of humor.
Once retired, he enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida and summers at Success Pond, where he enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity of God’s Country. After many years of memories at the pond, they sold the camp, and then spent 15 summers at Paradise Park in Old Orchard Beach. Due to declining health, they no longer wintered in Florida, and moved to Maine permanently in 2022.
He is survived by his son, James Nadeau, and wife Tina of Belleview, Florida, and his daughter, Christine Halle and husband Stephan of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; grandchildren, Justin Nadeau, Jessica Nadeau and Kendra Eastman and her husband Thomas Eastman; sister, Georgette Morency; brother’s Marcel (Lucille) and Albert (Terry), all of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife Priscille, brother, Roger Nadeau and sisters, Therese Parent and Jeannine Marble.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco, as well as Hospice of Southern Maine for the compassion, care and comfort provided throughout his journey.
At Paul’s request, there will be no service. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Southern Maine at 390 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074, or online at www.hospiceofsouthernmaine.org/donate.
