LAKEVILLE and OLD TOWN - Joseph Daniel Baker, 75, went to be with The Lord and his granddaughter Abbey on November 5th, 2022. Joe was born in Old Town on February 27th 1947 to John and Isabelle (Taylor) Baker.
Joe had an ear and passion for music at an early age and would often play his guitar until his fingers bled, learning Beatles songs by ear and playing them shortly after they were released with various bands at local venues.
He graduated from Old Town High School in 1967 and joined the Army shortly after he graduated. Upon his return, Joe worked at the Old Town paper mill for many years and later as an electronics technician for various companies in the Bangor area.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and boating with family and friends at his lakeside home on Upper Sysladobsis. Known for his ‘sit-down Joe’ quick dry-wit and sense of humor that would make you laugh and smile. Joe will be remembered for his kind hearted, gentle and generous soul, and optimistic view of life.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary (Mimi); sons Daniel of Bangor, Peter and his wife Elizabeth of Old Town; granddaughters Isabella, Madilyn, Allie and grandsons Nathan and Blake; siblings, Theresa Algard, Rose Bishop, Leona Gagnier, Ruth Ann Grindle, Joan Knuti, David Baker; special sister-in-law Susan Baker and special brother-in-law Charles Hamel, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; beloved granddaughter Abigail (Abbey) Baker; siblings Helen Varney, John Baker, Patrick Baker, Richard Baker, Marion Carrier, Lillian Kafka, Rita Jalonski, Charles Baker and Mary Blair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, December 3, 2022 at the Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church, 429 Main Street, Old Town, ME. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the Parish Hall after the Mass.
