Scarborough, Maine- John "Jack" Edward Keeley , passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 with his family by his side at the Gosnell Hospice House. He was born in Portland, Maine on November 2, 1927 to Joseph and Catherine Coppinger Keeley. He attended schools in Portland, Maine and left Deering High School in 1944 to enlist in the United States Navy. After the end of W.W. II, he completed his education and started working at Deering Furniture Company as an apprentice with the GI bill. He worked there for forty five years and was considered a master craftsman in Upholstery. When he retired, he went to work for his son at Keeleys’s Banquet Center for five years. He met his wife Corinne Gallant in 1948 and married a year later. They celebrated 65 years of marriage on May 21st of this year. He was the proud father of ten children, grandfather of 28 grandchildren and great grandfather of 9. His happiest time was spending time with his wife and all his family members.
He is survived by His Wife Corinne of 65 years of Portland, a daughter Kathleen and husband David Moulton of Portland, Maine, son John Keeley Jr. and companion Kerree Twombley of Gorham, Maine, daughter Julie and husband Stephen Mercer of Falmouth, Maine, daughter Margaret and husband Donald Drake of Portland, Maine, son Stephen Keeley and wife Janice of Falmouth, Maine, daughter Mary Teresa and husband Raymond Lambert of Charlotte, N.C. daughter Ann and husband Gregory O’Donnell of Hampden, Maine, daughter Maureen Keeley and partner Cheryl Greaney of Portland, Maine and daughter Barbara and husband Edward Anania of Portland, Maine, son Daniel Keeley and wife Mary of Manchester, Maine, his brother Harold Joseph Keeley and his wife Marjorie.
He was predeceased by 4 sisters and 3 brothers, Kathleen Neefus, Barbara Hoy, Mary Letourneau, Margaret Schwendeman, Joseph Keeley, James Keeley, and Charles Keeley.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a time of visitation from 4 to 8pm on Friday May 30, 2014 at Jones Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday May 31, 2014. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, Maine.
