The daughter of Linwood Elton Timberlake and Hazel Lila Hilton she was born in Portland on December 14, 1948. Jeanette grew up in the Deering section of Portland with her two sisters, often spending time at the Hilton family farm on Broad Cove in Bremen. She went to school at Deering High School and was active in clubs, cheering and sports. After graduation from Deering High School in 1967, she earned her BA in English from the University of Southern Maine.
She married Kerry E. K. Kimball on December 6, 1969 at Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland.
Jeanette taught Ninth Grade English at Bonny Eagle High School for 30 years with long-time friend and teaching partner Nancy Ezhaya. She lived and raised her family in Buxton, ME for 40 years in the antique Cape she and her husband moved from Willard Square in South Portland in 1973. She spent summers on Watchic Lake in Standish, ME and later at the family home on Embden Pond in Embden, ME. She retired in 2011.
Jeanette loved spending time with her family and friends, her children and grandchildren. She particularly loved gardening, time with friends and family at the lake or at Higgins Beach, and family traditions of Christmas and Thanksgiving. She loved to travel, read, and listen to music of all kinds. She was an avid (some might say rabid) professional Boston sports fan, especially her beloved Boston Celtics.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Kerry Kimball of North Yarmouth and Embden Pond, ME. Son Kerry Kimball and wife Joyce Wientzen of Portland, ME. Son Tucker Kimball and wife Kristen Kimball of Sunderland, VT. Daughter Els Bos-Maclachlan and husband Andrew Maclachlan of Aalsmeer, The Netherlands, her grandchildren Harrison Kimball, Elliott Kimball, Jackson Kimball, Penelope Kimball, Thomas Bueters, and Fien Bueters, her sister Naydene Bowder, her brother-in-law Scott Foster and beloved nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Jeanette was predeceased by her brother Linwood Timberlake, Jr (November 9, 1936) and her sister Linda Foster (February 16, 2016).
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 AM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
