Jim was born in Portland on April 6, 1927 the son of Ferdinando and Tomasino Maietta Fasulo. He was
raised in East Deering and attended local schools before joining the United States Navy and served
aboard the USS Bucyrus Victory in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Joan Clancy of
Portland on August 1, 1953 and together they raised their family of 3 boys. He was a loving, caring,
and generous husband, dad and grandfather always giving of himself to make sure that his family had
what it needed.
He worked for over 40 years at Burnham and Morrill as a baker before retiring in 1990. During his
tenure at B&M he was instrumental in organizing the workforce and served as the union's first
Business Agent. James was a long time communicant of St. Pius the 10th Church. He was an avid New
York Yankees fan always supporting his team in pinstripes. He also enjoyed golfing at Riverside South,
reader of many mystery and action books, and a founding member of the Italian Heritage Center in
Portland. He always displayed an amazing work ethic. Holding two jobs for many years, retiring from
the Portland Country Club at age 82. When he was not working, James spent time volunteering as a
Little League coach and umpire. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers, playing golf, and
cribbage. For the last 4 years Jim volunteered two days a week at the St. Vincent De Paul Soup
kitchen always saying that he wanted to give back to the community and how blessed he and the
family had been over the years. James most of all loved his three boys and their families.
James is survived by his sons Stephen and his wife Vida Fasulo of Hollis, David A. Fasulo and Nanci
Goudey of South Portland, James A. and his wife Kathryn Fasulo of Portland; his sister Gloria and her
husband Edward Dubail of Portland and Sister Mary Fasulo R.S.M. of Portland, Lucy and Vincent
Cassese, Salvatore and Pina Raia of Portland; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his parents, his wife of 39 years Joan Clancy, and his 7 brothers Arnold, Philip, Frank,
Albert, Dominick, Joseph, and John; and 2 sister in laws Margaret and Mary.
Relative and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday February 7 th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at
Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated on Monday February 8 th at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Ocean Ave. Portland. A
committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
