James Girard Conley passed away on December 6, 2024 at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. He was born in Portland to James and Marie (Derochers) Conley on July 1, 1933. He attended Portland area schools and graduated from Cheverus High School.
After graduation, he went into the military and was deployed to Korea. After coming back from the war he met, and later married, his wife Ruth Conley and adopted Ruth’s son, Wallace. Ruth and James were happily married for over 40 years.
James was employed by Parker Nichols of Portland until he retired. He enjoyed watching baseball and football games and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards, and spending his time with his remaining family members and friends. While residing at Deering Pavilion, where he resided until his passing, he also enjoyed many cookouts and other gatherings with his fellow residents.
Known to many as “Uncle Jimmy” James leaves behind grandsons Wayne and Greg Conley, great-grandchildren Ryan and Sophia Conley, and many nieces and nephews.
