Portland, ME - Harry W. Hubbard, 79, of Gray passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Barron Center. He was the husband of Darrie M. (Griffin) HubbardHe was born in Standish, ME on October 24, 1939 a son of the late Harry W. and Kathleen D. “Ham” (Weeman) Hubbard Sr. Harry attended schools in Limington until the eighth grade when he left school and went to work to help support his family. He met Darrie Griffin, of Acton, ME and after ten years the two married on January 15, 1944.
He worked for the Limerick Shoe Shop before spending thirty-two years working for SD Warren Paper in Westbrook.
Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially up to Moosehead Lake. He also liked to go out dancing, frequenting “Wagon Wheels” and enjoyed going to the Portland Expo to watch wrestling as well as watching Monday Night Raw with his children. He especially loved spending time with family and friends, from snowmobiling with his kids, to eating out with his siblings and hanging out with his best friend Ron Gough.
Besides his wife of twenty-five years, he is survived by his children Donald Hubbard and his wife Malinda, Brenda Sanborn and her husband Roger, Heidi Hutchins and her husband Jim, Eric Hubbard and his wife Nikki and David Griffin and his wife Susan. He also leaves a sister Sandra Ellsmore and many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Ronald Hubbard, Mary Watson, Beverly Mulhern, Patsy Walker Katherine Hamilton and Shirley Gowen.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
