Herbert, Francis age 89 of Portland passed away April 25, 2016. He was the son of Thomas A. and Eleanor M. (Alexander) Herbert. He was born January 9, 1927 in Portland, ME. He was a graduate from Portland High School. During World War II, Frank served in the US Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga CV-14, as an Aviation Boats Wains Mate. After the Navy Frank Joined the Portland Fire Department - where he became the City of Portland Electrical Inspector. He then later worked at Aladdin Electric and finished his electrical career as with his son as the owner of Herbert Electric. After retirement, he later moved to Port Charlotte, Fla., along with his wife Jacky, where he remained active. Frank enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife Jacky.
Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He will be remembered for his entertaining jokes, contagious laugh and his kind heart. Predeceasing Francis are his parents; Thomas A. and Eleanor M. (Alexander) Herbert, Brothers George Herbert and Thomas A. Herbert, Jr. , Grandson, Marc Webster.
Frank is survived by his 2 sisters Agnes Goode of Weston MA and Mary Norton of Westbrook. His Children Judy Webster of Portland, Biff Herbert and his wife Mary of Peaks Island, Shawna LaPierre and husband Gary of Westbrook, E. Erin Pasquali and her husband Tony, of Cape Coral, Fla., Coreen Lauren of Falmouth, Wendy Ohlsen of Allentown, Pa, Lisa Bilodeau and husband Bruce of Lewiston, Jacky Swindler and her husband Darel of Raymond, Leigh Quinn of Westbrook, Stephen Leavitt and wife Sharon of Woodbine, MD and Robyn Leavitt of Canaan. Also, numerous Nephew and Nieces
30 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of Visitation on Thursday evening April 28, 2016 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 29, 2016 at 10:00AM at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland, Maine. There is no Interment scheduled at this time.
