He was employed by the telephone company for 37 years (throughout all of the name changes). Foris also served in the US Navy proudly with his brothers, Willie and Roy.
His music journey began in high school. He was a concert master in the orchestra, where he mastered the violin and stand-up bass. His talent and enthusiasm for music lead him to sing acapella. The electric bass was his passion. He was happy when playing music with fellow bandmates and jamming with his friends. If you gave him an instrument, he could play it.
Foris was a loyal fan of Gunsmoke, Sanford and Son and Svengoolie. He would laugh hysterically at all the same jokes he heard over the hours and hours of viewing. Some of us were not so amused! Hosting big house parties or small camp gatherings, where he got to feed his friends and family, brought him much happiness. They referred to him as the rib man. His first car was a 1957 Chevy. Over the years, he indulged in his love of cars, owning a 1950s pickup truck, classic corvette and most recently, a 1930 model a ford. Laughing anytime he used the “aww ooo gaa” horn. Anyone who knew Foris was blessed by his kindness, honesty and generosity.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Willow; his children, son, Foris Williams II and his wife, Amanda; daughter, Amy Williams; and grandchildren, Quran and Samantha. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence Williams, brothers, Willie, Frederick and Roy. Also, his sister, Valerie and his granddaughter, Amber. He is survived by his mother, Lee Ethel, sister, Norma Jean and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Rest well.
