She worked at Bonafide Mill in Lisbon as a secretary before having children and, after the girls were all in school, was a secretary for the Superintendent of School Union 30 for 35 years until she retired in 2000 at the age of 72. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Pioneer Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Lisbon Falls. She also took an active role in the Rainbow girls in support of her daughters. She volunteered at the LACO food pantry.

Her daughters would like to thank the staff at Bay Square of Yarmouth and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their excellent and loving care of Florence. They all proclaimed she was ‘so sweet’.
