Elizabeth Merrifield Ruby

with her family by her side, on February 1, 2015, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough.

She was born on December 2, 1930, the daughter of the late Harry Merrifield and Helen Stearns Merrifield of Kezar Falls.

She graduated from Porter High School in 1949 and was the class (Co)Valedictorian. She went on to graduate from

Westbrook College in 1951.

In 1952, she married Lloyd Ruby and was married for 44 years until his death in 1996. She worked at the

Commercial Union Insurance Company for many years until retiring and becoming a volunteer

at Maine Medical Center, which she enjoyed for many years.

Betty was predeceased by her father and mother, and her husband. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Terri Roy and her husband Lennie Roy of Falmouth, her son, Scott Ruby and his wife Nancy Harriman of Dayton, and her son, Stan Ruby and his wife Susan Ruby of La Jolla California. One Granddaughter, Helen Ann Ruby, step grandchildren, Kate and Jared & his wife Jen, step great grandchildren, Edie, Elsa, & Emma. Her brother-in-law, Louis "Joe" Ruby and his wife Bonnie; sisters-in-law, Lillian Savage and her husband, Wally; Judy Clements and her husband David, and Donna Hoffman and her husband Bill, and all who loved her. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, Ernie Ruby.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Hugh Harwood and the entire staff at Hawthorne House for their devotion and caring support of our mom for the four years that she was there; and also the Gosnell House for their support and compassionate care in her final days.

There are no visiting hours scheduled. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine.
