Augusta - Edward L. Casey, 89, died peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta, on Sunday September 5, 2010. He was born November 21, 1920 in Portland son of the late George and Elsie Flint Casey.
Edward served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Portland Water District and started his own business, Jackson & Casey Plumbing and Heating with his son-in-law Ralph E. Jackson, who is pre-deceased. After retirement, Ed moved to West Palm Beach, Fl., where he mostly enjoyed playing tennis and being an instructor for children.
Besides his parents and son-in-law he is pre-deceased by his brother Kenneth and his sister Mildred (Dee-Dee), also his first wife Catherine. He is survived by his daughter Sharon L. Jackson, four granddaughters, Kelley, Katherine Kimberly, and Kristie, 9 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and his former wife Marion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Thursday September 9, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland.
Funeral services with military honors will be held Friday 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Shearman officiating.
Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park Portland at the convenience of the family.
