Dorothy F. Purington

Portland-Dorothy F. Purington, 95, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth. The daughter of George and Dorothy (Nelson) Latham, she was born on July 4, 1927 in Portland. She grew up in Portland, attending Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School. After high school, she started working as a bookkeeper for George Grant. During this time, she also met and married Philip Purington in 1947. Later she took a job as a bookkeeper for the Burnham and Morrill Credit Union, where she worked until she retired. She was active in the Italian Heritage Club as a lifelong member. She enjoyed traveling across the United States with her close group of friends.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 39 years in 1986, and her cousin Richard Nelson.

She is survived by her daughter Dianna Clukey and her husband James of Portland, cousins, George and Robert Nelson, and Carol Milliken, along with many other cousins.

Dorothy will be interred at Forest City Cemetery. There will be no services.
