

Scarborough -- Donald (Don) F. Marcotte age 75, passed away gallantly Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Maine Veterans’ Home after a long multiple health issues. He was the husband of Carol Marie (Mailhot) Marcotte.
He was born on February 1, 1936 in Dover, NH a son of the late Eugene & Mary (McGuire) Marcotte. Donald was a graduate of Dover High School. Shortly after graduation he entered the Army and became a Veteran in the Korean War. Upon Donald's return from Korean, he was blessed with his two daughters Tammy and Rhonda. Simultaneously, Don began his career at General Electric. Don was an accomplished worker at GE, he worked his way up the ranks of the organization and became a well-respected supervisor in the meter department in Somersworth, NH. After his retirement in 1991, Don was able to spend time golfing and focusing on his avid hobby of collecting and redesigning Corgi toys.
During the time that Don worked at GE, he met his wife Carol. During their marriage of 36 years, they had two children Don Jr. and Shannon. Don and Carol were able to visit many countries together, their favorite being St. Martin in the Caribbean. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Paris, France and renewed their marriage vows after 30 years in St. Martin at their villa.
Besides his wife Don is survived by his four children and one step child, D.J. Marcotte Jr., Shannon Sparks, Tammy Lopes, Rhonda Marcotte, and Major Travis Harris. He also leaves behind many grandchildren. The grandchildren in the local area and ones that were able to visit him at the Veteran's Home in Scarborough are Andrew, Nigel, Arianna, Addisyn, Jared and Haley. He also leaves a brother Eugene Marcotte Jr. and his wife Doris of Rochester, NH and a sister Elaine Zabkar of Dover, NH.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Maine Veteran's Home of Scarborough, especially Elsie, Cheryl, Janessa, Heather, Al and the many others that supported and cared for Don. Also a special and gracious thank you to Lynn Chasse at VNA and a respectful appreciation goes to Todd, Jake and Nick at Seal Rock.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Springvale, ME.
