Former long time Darien and New Canaan, Connecticut resident, David William Johnson, passed away peacefully at home in Yarmouth, Maine on Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was 75 years old. David was born December 23, 1935 in White Plains, New York and raised by his parents Dr. David W. and Mary Johnson. A graduate from White Plains High School, David continued his education at Nichols College and the University of Cincinnati. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve in 1962, David worked in New York City for over 30 years in advertising at companies such as Young & Rubicam, WGN, and SelTel. David will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and devotion to his wife and family. He enjoyed sailing and playing golf, as well as long walks in the woods with his dogs. He had a sweet tooth and could always be found with one pocket full of candy and the other full of dog biscuits. David is predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Janet Johnson. He is survived by his sisters Alice Bunnell and Fran Shelley of California; four children: Tracy J. Armstrong of Wilton, David W. Johnson Jr. of Falmouth, Maine, Craig R. Johnson of Wilton, and Lindsey J. Clark of Darien; and eleven grandchildren.
