A graduate of Portland High School class of 1938, she graduated from Gorham State Teachers College and the University of Maine, Orono.
On June 21, 1947 she married John G. Donahue. Catherine taught at Butler School and Jack Junior High School. She was also, a guidance counselor at Portland High School.
She was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a member of the Irish American Club and the Portland Boys and Girls Club Alumni Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen J. Donahue, and her sister, Corinne F. Pickett, both of Portland, and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband in 2002 and by her sisters, Mary Bogh, Josephine Gribbin and her brother, William A. Flaherty, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME. Prayers will be recited Monday, August 27, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. at Jones, Rich and Barnes, followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
