Carla Jane Darrell

She was born October 27, 1928 in Borger, Texas where her parents, Eldred Roy Lesley and Eleanor B Crooker were living. At six months, Carla and her parents returned to Maine where she graduated from Westbrook High School in 1946 and from the University of Maine-Orono in 1950.

She met and married Alanson Merrill Darrell of Bangor in 1950. They lived in Buffalo, NY; Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; and Clifton Park, NY before returning to Spruce Head, ME in 1981; where they had maintained a summer home since 1953. Carla attended services at her beloved Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston.

A proud mother of four children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, she loved spending time with family. She was also very active in her church, serving on many committees and activities as well as pursuing educational opportunities through the church. She loved St Johns and her many, many church friends who she also lovingly considered and kept in her heart as family. She was actively involved with various charities in the Thomaston-Rockland area. She was also a devoted participant and member of her chair yoga group.

She is survived by three daughters, Alana M. Williams of Clifton Park, NY; Melani P. Darrell of Mount Vernon, ME; Leslie Darrell of Yarmouth, ME; one son, Jeffrey B. Darrell, his wife Lee of Yarmouth, ME; Grandchildren; Trevor R Williams, his wife Hannah of Philadelphia. PA; Christopher R Williams, his wife Lindsay of San Diego, CA; Sarah E Williams of Clifton Park, NY; Ciahnan Darrell, his wife Jennifer of Wilkes Barre, PA; Cyrus Miller, his wife Erica of Bedford, NH; Laura E Darrell of New York, NY; Katharine A Darrell of Highland Park, IL; Great Grandchildren; Grady Darrell, Foxwell Miller, Finnian Miller, Madison Williams and Devin Williams.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held later in the spring.
