Beverly J. Marshall, 89, of Portland, passed away at her residence Thursday August 30, 2012 surrounded by her children. She was born April 16, 1923 in Westbrook a daughter of the late Delbert and Rose (Doucette) Plummer.
Beverly attended Portland and Westbrook Schools. She was a loving and devoted mother of 8 children. Beverly (and her late husband Douglas,) would spend summers at their camp at Forest Lake, with their children, hiking, picking berries, fishing, boating and playing games. Beverly campaigned for various charities including Multiple Sclerosis and the Cancer Fund. Beverly was a lifetime member of the Westbrook American Legion Auxiliary. She was compassionate with animals and had several beloved pets. She was an avid bowler, and was a member of a bowling league for over 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, BINGO, crocheting, knitting and won many ribbons at the Cumberland fair; she won her last ribbon at the age of 84. Beverly also enjoyed baseball and was an avid Yankees fan.
She is survived by her children: Philip Marshall and his wife Julie of Gorham, David Marshall and his wife Andrea of Portland, James Marshall and his wife Lorraine of Buxton, Peggy Richard and her husband Alfred of Westbrook, Barbara Tanguay and her husband Michael of Limington, Jeannie Doucette and Chuck Truesdell of North Yarmouth, Kathy Marshall and her partner Robyn Sincyr of Portland and Harold Marshall of Standish; 22 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Beverly will also be missed by a special friend, Ronald Wood and his wife Cora of Tennessee.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband, of 51 years, Douglas in 1992, an infant son Robert E. Marshall, and a grandson Anthony J. Marshall, and her 6 brothers.
Family and friends are invited to a time of Visitation from 5-7 pm Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME where a Funeral Service will be held 9 am Wednesday September 5, 2012. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
