South Portland-Anna Pauline Burke age 89 of Portland went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at the South Portland Nursing Home. Anna was born in Frackville, PA on December 27, 1920 the daughter of Joseph and Mary Wargo. Anna was a graduate of Frackville High School in the class of 1939. Anna married Peter Burke who predeceased her in 1994. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the National Grange. She loved to knit and sew. She was very good at working with her hands. Anna also loved to cook. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Anna was predeceased by her two brothers Joseph Wargo of New Jersey and Vincent Wargo of Pennsylvania.
She is survived by two daughters Gloria and husband Richard Beaulieu of Old Orchard Beach and Patricia Poissant of Portland, three sisters Mary Zimnicki of Saco, Elizabeth Carrick of Philadelphia, PA, and Katherine Bonner of Myrtle Beach, SC, a brother George Wargo and his wife Ethel of California, two grandsons Ryan Poissant of Biddeford and Richard M. Beaulieu of Biddeford along with several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of South Portland Nursing Home for the loving care they provided for Anna for the past six years.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 19 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 20 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
