Born Mary Ann Cormier on May 28, 1930 in New Glasnow, New Brunswick to Leo Edgar and Zita (Martin) Cormier, she grew up in Moncton, New Brunswick where she met and married Aurele (Al) J. Legere. She immigrated to the US in 1952. Ann was an active hockey and basketball player in her youth. She enjoyed hiking, golf and playing cards. Ann was an accomplished violinist and pianist and also sang in the Portland Community Chorus.
Ann was a fiercely independent and deeply religious woman who held family values to be paramount. She was an active member of various Catholic parishes and was an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, parish council member and a long time teacher/student of religious education.
Ann was predeceased by her parents, sister Lois, husband Al and daughter Mary Cecile. She is survived by sisters Joyce Mann of Bathurst, New Brunswick and Joan Trites of Ottawa, Ontario; daughter Lorraine A. Rowe (Dennis) of Pensacola, Florida; sons Robert J. Legere (MaryJo) of South Windsor, Connecticut, Donald M. Legere (Catherine) of Bow, New Hampshire and Leo Daniel Legere (Jill Thomas) of Superior, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Jones, Rich & Hutchins funeral home on Monday, July 11 from 5-7. A memorial service will be held at St. Pius church in Portland at 10:30 on Tuesday, July 12 with burial at St. Hyacinth in Westbrook immediately following.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Ann.
