Marvin (Uncle Marv, Pop-pop) we’ll be remembered fondly for his great sense of humor, his strength, and his determination to provide for the family he loved so much. His stead-fast spirit made him the first member of his family to get his driver's license and buy his own car.
After graduating from Merchantville High School in 1953 in Merchantville, NJ, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Camden, NJ. He served the IBEW for 40 years as a respected and successful electrician. He was also a long-time volunteer fireman for the Erlton Fire Company in Cherry Hill, NJ, continuing his father’s lineage as a NJ firefighter.
He met the love of his life, Sandra (Bunting) Mick in junior high school. Their friendship continued through high school and after. They were married October 5th,1957 in Pennsauken, NJ. They resided in Cherry Hill, NJ with their two children Susanne and Stephen Mick. In 1979 they moved to Phoenix, AZ.
Many of Marvin’s stories consisted of his love for attending dance halls with Sandy. Their life was rich with their shared love of travel, camping, caneing, hiking, swimming, and taking family trips to Ocean City, NJ with their dogs and children.
Marvin was the type to give the shirt off of his back to help those in need, especially family. He loved family gatherings and was most likely the life of the party. Marvin was a man of his time, providing for his family in so many ways. His love for dogs, which were such a comfort to him in the last months, will be continued through his family, as will his kind nature, and giving spirit. His strength and dedication to provide and serve will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the following:
• Jacob: for your kindness and dedication to your grandfather.
• Susie’s daughters: for all their extra help with their Pop-pop.
• Maine General Hospice, Maine Dartmouth, Dr. Isaiah Myer, and all the medical professionals along the way.
• All of Pop’s lovely neighbors who befriended him and accepted him with kindness into the safety and comfort of their neighborhood.
• Craig Taylor was a great friend for over ten years, always there for my Dad.
