Westbrook, ME – Alice Emily (Carey) Wotton, 74, of Westbrook died on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Springbrook Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Dale L. Wotton, who died in 1989 and the longtime companion of Avon W. Wilcox of Westbrook.
She was born on January 11, 1940 in Portland, ME a daughter of the late William H. & Emily (Bouthalette) Carey. She grew up in Portland, attending local area schools. She married Dale as a teenager and was married to him for over 30 years before he died.
Alice enjoyed cooking, especially for family during the holidays; Her Corn Chowder will be especially missed. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word searches as well as Soap Operas and game shows.
Besides her companion Avon, she is survived by her five children, Brenda Wotton of Portland, Cynthia Wotton of Westbrook, Stephen Wotton of Portland, Avon Wotton of Portland and Evelyn Wotton of Westbrook as well as her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves four brothers, William “Billy” Carey of Portland, Wallace Carey of Westbrook, David Bouthalette of Biddeford and Richard “Dickie” Carey of New Hampshire. Alice was also the mother of the late Raymond Wotton and two infants she lost during child birth. Also, she was the grandmother of the late Chris Pierce and sister of the late Edward “Eddie” Carey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Noon at Forest City Cemetery, 262 Lincoln St. South Portland.
