He moved to New York City at the age of 8, and grew up there, graduating from Eli Whitney’s Vocational High School where he learned electronics. Shortly after, he started a family and moved to Florida where he began working as an Electric Meter Technician for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) in Orlando. Accomplishing one professional goal after another, he started a business called Vectronics, where he repaired car computers for auto shops.
Winston retired in Jacksonville, FL after working at OUC for 27 years and operating Vectronics for 25 years. Of the Baptist denomination, his Christian religion was his cornerstone. He was friendly and went out of his way to get to know and help people. Telling jokes, cooking, and billiards were a few of his many talents.
Patrick was always remembered as a generous, kind soul. He would light up the room with his charismatic smile and genuine laugh. As a young child he was very comedic in which he would imitate “Kermit the frog” and as father he would imitate “Daffy Duck” to entertain the family.
He was also known as the family supporter in which he felt the need to help everyone. He definitely wore his heart on his sleeve. We would call him “Caribbean Cool Breeze” because he always sought the positive in situations. His nature was so relaxed while his support for family was excessive. He took on the patriarchal role religiously.
On August 5, 2023, Winston was called home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his son’s Patrick Hibbert, Jamel Hibbert Sr., and Curtis Hibbert; His siblings Olive Carter, Karen Haynes, Marlene Hibbert, and Carlton Hibbert, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Hibbert, father Arthur Hibbert, brothers Donald Hibbert, Cedric Hibbert, sister Angela Evans, and niece Rhonda Carter. Patrick will truly be missed and forever remembered.
"John 11: 11, 14, 23, 43 & 44" My Dear Brother Patrick just like Mary and Martha received their Brother Lazarus because as Jesus said he is only sleeping. The same for you my Brother sleep well for soon you will awake and join your family to receive their Love."
