Velma H. Demonet

Velma Harrison Demonet celebrated her 105th birthday July 6, 2023 with family and friends in her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Soon afterward, on August 30, 2023, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Velma grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, graduated from Ramsey High School and then pursued a career in the business world. She started out as a stenographer, and over time moved into office management positions with several professional organizations.

She met and married her late husband, Roger Demonet, in Birmingham where they lived for over 70 years. They had two children, Elaine and Ron. Velma is survived by her two children, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren

Velma will be remembered as a charming, kind, loving person who “never met a stranger.” She was just fun to be around-whether it was in a business setting, a social gathering, out in nature catching fish, or around a card table (usually winning the top prize!)

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM with a service beginning at 11:00AM on Saturday September 16, 2023 at Aycock Funeral Home 1504 SE Floresta Dr. Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. A graveside service will be held in Birmingham, AL at a later date.

In lieu of flowers Velma would want memorial donations sent to any local charity that helps underprivileged families.
