

Rita was born to the late Edward Peter Falter and Anna Rosalie Falter (Gasper) in Orange, Pennsylvania before moving to Elkridge MD and then to Glen Burnie, MD and finally to Port St. Lucie where she settled. Rita was first and foremost a mom, grandma "nan" , and great grandmother. In her spare time, Rita was active in St. Lucie Catholic Church. She was a member of the CCW- Council of Catholic Women, the church choir, and Knights of Columbus Lady Knights. She was active in The Orchid Society of Fort Pierce. She enjoyed arts and crafts. In her spare time, Rita would enjoy decorating cakes and building floral arrangements. Rita even made Rosaries from beads. Rita was a dancing enthusiast. She was also an avid knitter and enjoyed crocheting.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Via in 2003; infant son, Vernon Leroy "Roy" Via Jr.; and brother, Edward Donald Falter.
Survivors include her son, Tony Via (Paula) , of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Darlene Via, of Port St. Lucie and Diane Evans (Neil), of Port St. Lucie; grandchildren, Neil A. Evans, Jessica Rodriguez, Aubrey Hibbard, and Catheryn Via; great-grandchildren, Anthony Castillo and Gage Michelle Rodriguez, Raina Rodriguez; and sister, Rosalie Young.
A visitation will take place on Thursday January 31, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday February 1, 2019 at 11 am St. Lucie Catholic Church, 425 SW Irving Street Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
