Sylvia Hoffman passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024. Sylvia was born the eldest of three in 1935. She came to the United States when she was 20, Sylvia was employed by Burgess Meredith as a nanny and she also worked in a dinner club near Central Park in New York City, where she met her husband Karl Hoffman. They married and resided in Pelham, New York when they soon moved to Paterson, New Jersey, where they started a family. They then bought a house in Plainfield, New Jersey where they raised five children. They resided in Plainfield for 37 years until they retired Port St. Lucie, Florida in 2004, they were married for 57 years. Sylvia enjoyed taking care and spending time with her children and three grandchildren. She was an extraordinary cook and made the best fried chicken, which will be missed. You could taste the love in everything she prepared. Sylvia enjoyed doing puzzles and created works of art that were displayed on the walls of her home.
Sylvia is predeceased by her husband, Karl Hoffman, two sons, Gunther and Fritz Hoffman, son-in-law, William Mackenzie, brother, Mireil Dure and sister, Yvonne Dure. Sylvia is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Mackenzie, Carla and Mireille Hoffman, sister-in-law, Solange Dure, many nieces and nephews and cousins!
