It was 1954 when the small town couple from Ohio met the big city couple from New York, and the journey began.
 
 Who know at that time what a grand journey it would be. And when our children were born,it was just like we both had extended families. Enjoying vacations together and later with the kids, all the time building memories that we carry with us each day. 
 
 There were heartbreaks along the way but we were there for each other. And today is no different as we have lost one of the links in the chain. Bob was a good man, husband, dad and our best friend.  He was so proud of his family and the spouses they chose. And he was a very proud PopPop too.
 
Safe journey home Bob-We love  you and will miss you.

I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and my prayers are with your family through this heartbreaking time. Nothing I can say will ease your pain but just wanted you to know I am thinking of you. Love to you and your family

Dear Larsen Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Mr Larsen's passing.. He was such a pleasant man and always had something nice to say.  I will miss seeing him here at Dr Lloyds office. You were lucky to have him, im sure he was a wonderful father and husband.  I will light a candle for his memory tonight.  Peace be with you.

It is hard to put into words all of the feelings and memories that I associate with my Pop Pop. I remember from an early age sitting on his lap in front of a computer playing a pixelated PGA golf game and eating Cheese Balls with turkey sandwiches as his home in Oakbrook.

Later when my grandparents moved to Florida we shared so many moments on the beach, in the pool and on a cruise to the Bahamas. I loved visiting Grandma and Pop Pop's house for vacation!

As I grew older I cherished the conversations that I had with Pop Pop (and simultaneously Grandma) on the phone. Pop Pop was always so encouraging as I made it through college, worked at a non-profit and finally finished up graduate school. He always told me how proud he was of me and for this I will be forever thankful.

I am proud of him too and how he lived his life. When I think of the classic love story he and Grandma immediately come to mind. They were clearly in love with one another until the very end - and they liked each other too! I will always admire their relationship and will strive to love my husband as Grandma loved Pop Pop. 

He will be truly, truly missed but I am so thankful that I have many sweet memories and encouraging words to remember my Pop Pop with.

I am such a lucky granddaughter to have had a grandpa like Pop Pop. He and Grandma would open their home to us as we vacationed near Port St. Lucie for many years. I have endless memories that come from these vacations. I must share a couple! 

I will never forget how Pop Pop would always make sure that there were Klondike bars in the freezer before his granddaughters visited. We began this tradition when we first started visiting Grandma and Pop Pop in Florida when I was very young. He spoiled us with those Klondike bars. 

Some of my other favorite memories come from car rides with Grandma and Pop Pop. Grandma, I found out that you really disliked other cars on the road, especially semis. You would always be sharing your dislike of other vehicles with Pop Pop, who was driving. You would warn Pop Pop to be aware of these other drivers, "Bob watch it. Don't get too close to that semi." Pop Pop would just remain quiet in the driver's seat as you continued to caution him of the trucks on the road. Ashley and I would be in the backseat watching this whole conversation, wondering how many times Grandma could warn Pop Pop of all the other cars. This memory makes me smile, thinking back on how sweet my Pop Pop was for continuing to listen to Grandma as she discussed the danger of other drivers. :)

I really could go on and on about memories I share with Pop Pop. I am blessed to have had such a wonderful grandfather. It is so hard to lose Pop Pop, but I cherish the memories I have with him. The traditions my sister, family, and I set with him will of course live on. :) I am excited about that, because I will think of him every time.

Mr. Robert Larsen was one of the truly nicest men I have ever met. The words I would use to describe him are kind, gentle, respectful, sharply intelligent,witty and above all, loving. He leaves a wonderful example for all who knew him. I feel privileged to have known him. Godspeed, Bob.

Dear Mrs Larsen, Lois, Karen, and Dale,

We are all sorry to hear about Mr. Larsen.  He was a wonderful and gentle man. It was a privilege to have worked for him and known him as your father Lois. 

"God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, come and follow me. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away, although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.  A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best."

Bob was the best father-in-law anyone could ask for!  He was serious when he needed to be, but very witty the rest of the time.  I remember how he teased me about " eating like a bird - a Vulture!".  I remember sharing anchovie pizza with him, because nobody else wanted it!  I remember him driving too fast in his Scirocco, leading to at least one memorable slide through a wet Lexington intersection with Dale and I in the back!

He was kind and gentle, smart and funny.  He was a faithful, loving husband to my dear mother-in-law, Marilyn.  He was obviously a great father to three children, which I am blessed to call my family.  Lois, who is so much like her father, and Karen who is so different from him.  He helped raise two very successful daughters, allowing them to develop into smart, driven women while keeping their beauty and femininity.

He also helped raise a son who I am proud to call my husband of 26 years, Dale.  Our children (and now grandchildren) and I are benefitting from the example Bob set to be a faithful, considerate, loving husband and father.  For that we cannot thank him enough.

Bob, we miss you and we will always love you and hold you close in our hearts!

I always remember how Bob would greet me when he saw me.  He was always excited and would say, "Hello, Joetta!".  He always made me feel that he was genuinely happy to see me.  I remember visiting Bob and Marilyn in their condo in Oakbrook and it was always a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and again,  I remember being enthusiastically welcomed by Bob and Marilyn.  I remember Bob's VW that he drove to the airport.  I thought it was a really cool car!  Of course, we discussed the airlines as we had that in common.  Later, when they had made the move to Florida, I was welcomed along with Sami for a visit while Dale, Amy and the girls were vacationing.  Bob took us all to a little restaurant where they served whole lobsters and insisted on treating us to dinner.  It was a great meal and I always remember feeling that I was welcomed as a part of the family and I appreciate that.  I am so sorry for your loss.   I am praying for you all.
