MICHAEL J. MEAD, 68, of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away January 21, 2015 at Martin Medical Center in Stuart, FL. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Nicholas Mead and Rosemary Dooley Mead. Mr. Mead was a resident of Hobe Sound, FL.
Mr. Mead graduated from St. Leo University with Bachelors in Business and Psychology and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Master’s in Business Administration. He served in the US Army. He worked for American Can Company for 10 years and had been a Franchisee for Subway restaurants for 30 years. He owned various Subway restaurants in Connecticut and along the Treasure Coast. He continued to provide contract and negotiation consultancy services.
Michael was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL, where he served as member and past president of the Men’s Club, and past president of the Serra Club. He was also a member of various Advisory Boards for St. Lucie and Martin Counties; member of SPIDR, Mediation Negotiation Organization.
Mr. Mead was a devoted family man. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Mead of Hobe Sound, FL; four children, Katie Mead of Deerfield Beach, FL, Andrea Adams (John) of Hobe Sound, FL, Brieon Marais (Mark) of Bethesda, MD, and Michael Mead of Jupiter, FL; three grandchildren, Annabella, Tyler and Madeline Adams; three sisters, Mary Sinatra Rutman (Leon) of Charlotte, NC, Rosemary Trompeter (Chris) of Darien, CT, Geraldine Allen (Doug) of Honolulu, HI; one brother, David Mead (Julie) of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Nicholas Mead, Jr.
Visitation will be Monday, January 26, 2015 from 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL.
A Mass will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015, 11:00AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port St. Lucie, FL.
