Mark R. Dion, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Port Saint Lucie, FL, to be with his Savior on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. He was the loving and devoted husband of 46 years to his high school sweetheart, Susan (Lewandowski) Dion.
Born October 13, 1957, in Lowell, MA, he was the second son of Dr. George and the late Faith Dion. His family relocated to Bristol, CT when he was a young child.
Mark and Susan moved to Terryville, CT where they settled to raise their children. As a member of the community, he coached Little League softball and baseball for several years. He was a history buff especially of WWII, an avid golf and tennis player, both of which he played most of his life, and a loyal fan of the New England Patriots and all things Boston – Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins.
In 2004, a life changing decision was made to move to Port St. Lucie, FL. The family became members of Highpoint Community Church and Mark would volunteer when needed. An electrician by trade, Mark could fix or repair almost anything. He was, however, happiest when he was working in his garage to build or restore something out of wood for the people he loved the most, his family. He adored his grandchildren who lovingly called him “Grandpa” or “Papa”. You would often find him watching the children outdoors playing in the yard, riding on the scooter with all in tow, teaching them to swim, or just playing with them on the floor.
Besides his wife and father, Mark is survived by his son Mark Dion and wife Lisa, his four daughters Sara Dion and fiancé Derek Reese, Melissa Quiambao and husband Romeo, Michelle Mannino and husband Dylan, and Megan Dion, a “son” Shawn Caron, his seven cherished grandchildren, Lexi, Bryson, Maya, Austin, Alora, Reagan, and Ava. He is also survived by his brothers David, Ray and wife Julia, Paul and wife AnnMarie, his sisters Denise Orsi and husband Raymond, and Beth Dion, an aunt, uncle, and cousin, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. Mark was predeceased by his mother, Faith (Layson) Dion, and sister Marilee (Dion) Palmieri.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Highpoint Community Church, 2250 SE Walton Road, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952 at 1:30 pm.
