She was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Hillier, a sister, Mae Sutton, a brother, Albert
Joseph Hillier, Jr. and her beloved husband of 54 years, Ira Merle Bender.
She is survived by her loving children, Barry Bender, Carol Truscott and Lynne Crum, as well as 4 grandchildren she cherished, Toni Beers, Shawn Bender, Christopher Bender and Chad Bender, and 6 great grandchildren.
Lillian trained in ballet when young and performed professionally with the Philadelphia Littlefield Ballet Company in many large U.S. cities, and traveled as part of that troupe through Europe at the age of 15. Lillian worked as a Division Manager for Sears Roebuck Company in Harrisburg, Pa. and was active in many community activities and the United Methodist Church throughout her life. Upon retiring to Florida in 1980, Lillian volunteered at the St. Lucie Medical Center for 10 years, and also at the Manatee Watch Center as well as walking the beach to help protect the turtle breeding areas, for many years. Lillian loved her family and will be greatly missed by all.
Lillian’s internment will be beside her beloved husband at the V.A. Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Lillian’s name to The Treasure Coast Hospice, 5090 NW Dunn Street, Ft, Pierce, Florida.
