Joseph Ferraro, 90, a resident of Port St. Lucie, departed this life Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Joe was born in Staten Island, NY, one of ten children. His family moved to Brooklyn in 1938. After high school, he attended Casey School of Aeronautics in Newark, NJ. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force for 3 years. He married his first wife, Helen, in 1944. She passed away in 1975. Joe worked in the postal service for 37 years and attained the position of Postmaster in 1977. Joe met his wife, Anna, at his post office and the two were married in 1980. Joe was a Paul Harris Fellow Award recipient for the Rotary Club in South Plainfield, NJ. Joe and Anna then moved to Jensen Beach, FL in 1986. Joe became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1990 and a fourth degree member in 1992. Joe was a Grand Knight at St. Martin de Pores. Joe and Anna moved to Port St. Lucie West in 2001. He was the first Grand Knight of St. Bernadette Council #13042. Joe chaired the Tootsie Roll Drive for 3 years, was bible chairman for the church, Trustee for 6 years, 1st Degree Team for 8 years, 3rd Degree Team for 5 years, and worked on the picnic. He was also an active Steward in St. Bernadette Catholic Church and an usher for 7 years. He also volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul, was a member of Friendship Force, and a member of Treasure Coast Newcomers Club. He was always helping his fellow Knights. Mr. Ferraro is survived by his loving wife, Anna Ferraro; children, Joanna Levy, and her husband, Vick, Robert Ferraro, Joseph Ferraro, Jr., and his wife, Maureen, Caroline Coleman, and her husband, Chet, Sheree DeGennaro, and her husband, Joseph, Gina McBriar, and her husband, Michael, and son, John Tourloukis; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Rogers; and brother, Frank Ferraro. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 6th, at Aycock Funeral Home – Byrd, Young & Prill Chapel, 1170 SW Bayshore BLVD, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7th, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
