Joanne (Jo) Patricia Pifer was born on June 13,1939 in Washington, D.C. to William and Amy Stoddard. Joanne went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2024, at the age of 85, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernest (Ernie) Lee Pifer.
Joanne attended McLean High School (MHS) in McLean, Virginia. She was active in many clubs including Drama Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Hilltop Highlights Newspaper, Future Homemakers of America, Booster Club, School and Church Choir, Duck and Ten Pin Bowling League, and the Roller Skating Club. She was also an active member of the MHS Reunion Committee.
Following high school, Joanne worked as a Secretary and Receptionist with both the Federal Government and Private Industry. Joanne was very active in the Vienna Jaycee Women as a member, President and Life Member.
Joanne loved her family and friends and made a point of telling them that she loved and appreciated them as often as possible, often with a hug and frequently with a text or a call.
In honor of her final wishes Joanne will be buried in All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach, Florida next to her beloved husband, Ernie.
Joanne is survived by her son, Shawn Pifer and his wife Melody, daughter, Tammie O’Brien, granddaughter, Paige Pifer, six grandsons, Jesse Rasmussen, Justin Pifer, Casey O’Brien, Jeremy Pifer, Zachary Thornhill, Caleb Thornhill, great-granddaughter Cheza Rasmussen, and seven great-grandsons, Jesse Noah Rasmussen, Dominic Rasmussen, Matthew Pifer, Dylan Ensminger, Breken Roy, Ryatt Roy, and Layth Pifer.
Joanne wanted to share a special note: “The most rewarding part of my life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. I loved spending time with all my family and friends for so many special occasions throughout my life. I thank God for all of them. Until we meet again, I love you all!”

A visitation for Joanne will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM with a Service to follow at 11:30 AM at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Southeast Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. Immediately following will be a procession to All Saints Cemetery at 2303 NE Seaview Dr, Jensen Beach, FL 34957.
