He was born in Jersey City, NJ, and moved to the area in 1977, moving from Clark, NJ.
Herb was a retired Police Office for the Clark, NJ police department after 14 and a half years of service. He was a life member and past president of the NJ P.B.A. local # 125 in Clark, NJ.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Joan Ann Johnson of Port St Lucie, FL, daughter, Debra (David) Miller of Stroudsburg, PA, two sons, Herbert (Wendy) Johnson Jr. of Painter, VA and Jeffery (Deanna) Johnson of Port St Lucie, FL, two sisters, Judith (Walter) Young of Salisbury, MD and Janice (Robert) Negra of Hazlet, NJ, six grandchildren and a great grandson.
He was predeceased by his son, David Johnson.
A private memorial service is being held for the immediate family only.
