George was born and raised on the Island of Saba, Dutch Caribbean. Moving to Richmond Hill New York in the late 1950s where he and the love of his life, Ora, raised a family that meant more to him than anything life could offer.
In the late 1970’s he moved the family to Fort Lauderdale before finally settling in his homestead in Port St. Lucie FL where his home was open to anyone and everyone. He worked as a highly valued and skilled Operating Engineer for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co until his retirement in 1988.
Loved and revered by everyone he met, George will be always remembered by his family and friends for the care and compassion he holds in his heart for everyone he knew.
George is survived by his loving wife, Ora V. Johnson; daughters, Marlena McGrath, Sheryl (George) Mascio, Gail Miller; sons, George Bernard Johnson III and Keith Thomas Johnson; grandchildren, Frank Ross Reynolds IV, Aja (Josh) Jewell, George R. Mascio II, Chase Christopher Miller, Jared James Miller; and, great grandchildren Luca Jewell and Brooke Jewell.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Hyacinth Johnson; brother Leonard Johnson, surviving siblings Garvice Johnson, Erla Johnson, Henry Johnson and Brian Johnson.
