Elizabeth Ethlyn Coley was born January 13, 1923 in St. Ann Jamaica to Ernest and Elizabeth Sharpe. She had three sisters and six brothers. Elizabeth, Girly as she was affectionately called by family and friends had one child, a son, Fitz Brown. She was married to Raphael Coley, and had two step sons Howard and Winston Coley.
Aunt Girly, or Mother Coley as she was later called by her church family was schooled in Jamaica and enjoyed sewing, she became a seamstress with a knock for fashion and style. After migrating to the United States in the early 60s, Mrs. Coley sought further education and became a licensed practical nurse. She lived in Brooklyn New York and attended Good Hope Missionary Church. She relocated to Port St. Lucie in 1999 and became a member of the worshiping body of Berean Church of God International.
She enjoyed reasonably good health until recent months when she started experiencing various complications. During this time, however, she remained in good spirits, always loving the Lord, and thanking him for keeping her alive. She loved friends and family and was always happy to have them visit. Mother Coley, as she was affectionately, known was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 8, 2016.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lovie; brothers, Percy, Roy, and Norman, as well as step son Howard Coley.
Mother Coley leaves behind son Fitz Brown; sisters; Sisi and Dar, brothers; Barber, Slatel and Tony (Bibie); four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; step son Winston Coley, three step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
