Colvin Fitzgerald Reid, affectionately known as Moose and The Professor, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 98, in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Born on March 23, 1925, in Barbados, West Indies, Colvin's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, independence, and unwavering integrity.
A man of exceptional character, Colvin, also known as The Professor, dedicated his career to mechanical engineering, specializing in diesel fuel injection engines. His passion transcended professional boundaries, as he became a mentor, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many who had the privilege of learning from him.
Colvin, or Moose as he was affectionately called, approached life with determination and applied his heart to everything he undertook. His commitment to honesty and honor defined his relationships, earning him the respect and admiration of family and friends alike.
Survived by his wife, Thelma Reid, of 67 years, Colvin leaves behind a profound legacy of love through his children: Wendall Reid, Heather Reid, Jasenter Dennie, Kurtis Reid, Tyrone Rock, Judith Rock, Janice Rock-Nolan, Paulette Lawson, and Elvis Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladstone and Beatrice Reid, his brother Edward (Sonny) Reid, his sister Venita Reid and his daughter Angela Rock Graham.
Colvin was a proud uncle to Sandra and Wendy Reid, and their families. His role as a grandfather extended to Anderson Bowen, Rico Jones, Ashleigh Hutchinson, Miles and Alex Reid, Sean and Ryan Nolan, Sean Lawson, Evan and Erin Rock, Jason and Nicole Rock, Patrick Graham and Andrea Graham Farro, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his distinguished mechanical career, Colvin showcased his diverse talents as a licensed real estate agent in New York. Beyond his professional pursuits, Colvin found joy in leisure activities. He was a crossword puzzle enthusiast, a captivating joke-teller, storyteller, and an all-around humorous soul.
Colvin's departure leaves a void, but his legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
