Dear Aunt Sybil, Cousins Celia Gaye, Sandy, Eddie and Cheryl -
 On behalf of myself and Mummy (Sheila), Arlene and Jeremy, we would like to send you all our deepest heartfelt condolences and to let you know we are all aching to lose our cherished Uncle Charles - his passing has left a void in our family.
Over the years, he has been a generous, funny, quietly loving uncle and brother to us.  We remember his ability to tell stories, to sing, dance, his sportsmanship and he showed the great qualities of patience and reflection - as evidenced in his fearlessness while deep-sea fishing, his life's work and the flourishing fruit trees he planted in his garden.  
So we'd like to summarize our memories of Uncle Charles with a quote by the scientist Dr. Oliver Sachs from  his book 'Gratitude'  as we would imagine him reflecting on his own life, which I hope will be a consolation to us all -
" I begin to feel, not a shrinking but an enlargement of mental life and perspective. One has had a long experience of life, not only one’s own life, but others’, too. One has seen triumphs and tragedies, booms and busts, revolutions and wars, and at 92, one can take a long view and have a vivid, lived sense of history not possible at an earlier age. I can imagine, feel in my bones, what a century is like, which I could not do when I was 40 or 60. I do not think of old age as an ever grimmer time that one must somehow endure and make the best of, but as a time of leisure and freedom, free to explore whatever I wish, and to bind the thoughts and feelings of a lifetime.  My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved; I have been given much and I have given something in return; above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure."
So thank you Uncle Charles, for leaving these beautiful qualities with us...

When looking at the pictures below, it is evident that Uncle Charles lived a superb life; in which he shared with many loved ones.

I didn't have many interactions with Uncle Charles but the few I did were more than pleasant.

My condolences go out to Uncle Charles' family. May they find solace in the amazing memories he left.

I recall attending an award dinner, and Mr Mordecai and his wife were among the guests.  He clearly enjoyed himself and at one point was on the dance floor with other attendees.  What a joy!  He celebrated life to the fullest, and radiated youthfulness of heart. His life is an example for us all.
