Charles Thomas Dougherty, 82, of Port St. Lucie passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Treasure Coast Hospice residence in Stuart, FL. Charles was born in the Bronx, New York. He had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for the past fourteen years coming from Miami Lakes, FL. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Charles was also the building manager for the Miami Herald for 36 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Darlene Dougherty of Port St. Lucie, FL; one daughter, Dawn Dougherty of Winter Haven, FL; one son, Thomas and his wife Eliana Dougherty of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one brother, James Dougherty of Long Island, NY; four grandchildren, Annabelle, Philip, Jenna and Cole. A Gathering will be held from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, October 9, 2015 at Aycock FH-Byrd, Young & Prill Chapel, 1170 SW Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 350 NW California Blvd, St. Lucie West, FL 34986. Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice Inc., 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
