Barb was born in Lake Zurich, Illinois to Spencer James and Bernice Jane Nash. She started her career in Telecommunications with Western Electric as a Wire Woman and retired as a Supervisor with Bell Labs/Lucent. After retirement she moved to Florida, 30 years ago from Illinois. She was active in AT&T Pioneers Volunteer Network, where she did different community service projects for her community. Barb was a patron of the Symphony. In her younger years, she enjoyed travelling and spending time on the golf course. She loved her family and her animals dearly. Barbara would do anything for her family. She was known to adopt animals from the Animal Rescue League.
Barb was preceded in death by her husbands’, John Tomick and Walter Rutkowski; and brother, Jackie Nash.
Survivors include her son, Patrick Johnson; daughter, Betty Jane Johnson (Eldridge Tincher); sister, Mary Begley; and brother, James Spencer Nash.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will take place Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 4-6:30 pm with a Celebration of Life Service held at 6:30pm at Aycock Funeral Home , 1504 SE Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983. Services will be held at a later date in Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc., 4600 Selvitz Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
