Thomas Francis Taaffe II passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017. Thomas was born in Powell, Wy on November 1, 1988 and was raised in Altus OK, Albuquerque NM, Waldorf MD, and Port Orange Florida. After graduating from Spruce Creek High School in 2007, he joined the United States Navy. He completed training as a Hospital Corpsman with specialty training as a Pharmacy Technician and was assigned to the medical facility a Naval Submarine Base New London Ct., as a Pharmacy Technician. After his service in the US Navy, he stayed in the New London area and worked as a Pharmacy Technician with Walgreens Corporation while attending college. In 2014, Thomas relocated to Port Orange and began working at the Walgreens store on the corner of International Speedway Blvd and Ridgewood Ave. His exceptional attention to detail filling prescriptions correctly and customer service earned him accolades from both customers and co-workers. Multiple 100% customer service ratings were garnered by him and the store due to his excellent interaction with customers. Thomas always had a smile and was known to have a calming effect with unhappy customers, resolving problems independently and successfully. Thomas was fluent with the Spanish language and immersed himself in the Aztecan culture. He loved to prepare elaborate and delicious Hispanic influenced meals for the family and always has an infectious sense of good humor and wonderful smile. He is survived by his mother Bonita Powe, of Tucson, AZ, father Thomas Taaffe and his step-mother Cheryl, sister Madison, grandmother Karoline Taaffe, uncle Kevin Taaffe, aunt Patty Rizzo (Steve), cousin Lauren, all of Port Orange, cousin (Sergeant - USMC) Daniel Rizzo (Michaela) of California, and nine Aunts, Linda Akey of Nashua NH, Vio Teer Springfield MO, Alice Seavey Dunnellon FL, Bobbie Stephenson and Marie Chemielewski of Merritt Island FL, Rachel Minchew, Josie Romero, Wallie Goolsby, Margret (Teeter) Martinez all of Tucson AZ and one Uncle Bill Powe also from Tucson AZ. He is also survived by numerous cousins.
