Richard Grimshaw, 82, passed away on Sunday September 25, 2016 at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange. He was born in Watertown, NY to George and Harriet (Samuels) Grimshaw and honorably served in the U. S. Air Force. A longtime resident of Syracuse, NY Richard and his family moved to this area in 1963. An electrical engineer, Richard worked for General Electric for 39 years. After retiring he volunteered with the G. E. retiree’s working with Habitat for Humanity and mentoring 5th grade math and science club students. He also judged science fair projects for the local schools. Richard had many interests; he was a member of the Daytona Beach Boat Club, Daytona Beach Street Rod Club and a volunteer at the Museum of Arts and Sciences. He loved to travel in his motor home and working at the speedway during the races. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years; Marty; sons, Rick and his wife B.J. and Stephen and his wife Terri; daughter, Lauri Conkling and her husband Ron; six grandchildren; Christy Grimshaw Naberhaus and her husband Joe, Austin Grimshaw, Trent Conkling, Tessa Conkling, Ryan Grimshaw and Kaitlyn Grimshaw and his sister, Susan French and her husband Peter. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 1, 2016 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Halifax Health Hospice 3800 Woodbrier Trail Port Orange, Fl 32129.
