Regena Delphine Yohpe passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2015 at Halifax Hospital. Reggie, who loved to be called "Busia" (Polish for grandma) by her grandchildren, was born on May 25, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in the Polish enclave of Hamtramck, along with sister, Jean Sindelar and brother, Norbert Jasinski. She was wed to Theodore Yohpe on March 2, 1957 in Detroit. She was the loving mother to four children, Melissa (Yohpe) Goller, Nancy (Yohpe) Sexton, Christopher and Mark, and "Busia" to her six grandchildren. Unabashedly proud of being a stay-at-home mom, Regena fed her passion for singing by many years of performing with the Sweet Adelines. She reveled in her Polish heritage and passed on a love for traditional food and holiday celebrations, along with her abiding Catholic faith as a member of the Basilica of St. Paul Church. Her generous nature and unassuming smile made every stranger a new friend and every neighborhood child feel like a member of her family. Reggie's love for others was manifest in her volunteer work for the local Deaf Center and Catholic Food Bank. As time passed and health problems for both her and her husband, Ted, grew, Regena showed signs of the inner steel which lay within. She never lost her sense of gratitude and optimism. Regena is survived by loving husband, Ted, her brother and sister, children and grandchildren.A private ceremony will be held at the end of this month at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
