Raymond F Gallagher

Raymond F. Gallagher, 84, of Daytona Beach, passed away Tuesday April 30, 2013. Mr. Gallagher a Marine Corp veteran, was born in Medford Massachusetts and lived in Hingham, Mass for many years prior to moving to this area in 1979. A 1952 graduate of Boston University, he represented several Fortune 500 companies based in Boston before locating to Daytona Beach as President Jack Hunt’s Director of Development at Emory Riddle Aeronautical University. From 1983 to his retirement in 1998 he was associated with Adams Cameron & Company, Realtors, in Daytona Beach. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Jean; three sons Raymond, Roger and Christopher; stepson Jeff Gibson; a stepdaughter, Nancy Armstrong; two brothers Leonard and Ronald and nine grandchildren He was predeceased by his only daughter Geri Cella. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Volusia/ Flagler 3800 Woodbrier Dr. Port Orange. At the family’s request services will be private. Mr. Gallagher was born in Medford, Massachusetts and moved to this area in 1979 from Hingham Massachusetts. After graduating from Boston Latin School in 1946, he served in the United States Marine Corp for two years, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Upon discharge he attended Boston University, graduating in 1952. He spent a number of years in sales and sales management positions, based primarily in Boston. In 1979 he relocated to Florida accepting a position as Director of Development at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, and in 1983 began a successful career in Commercial Real Estate sales with Adams, Cameron & Co, realtors, also in Daytona Beach, retiring in 1998.. Mr. Gallagher volunteered at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach serving a a Patient Transporter for many years. He also enjoyed gardening and was a member of Pelican Bay Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons Raymond III, Roger and Christopher all of Massachusetts; step daughter Nancy Armstrong and step son Jeff Gibson of North Carolina five grandchildren and four step grandchildren His daughter Geri Cella predeceased him in 1991.
