Raymond M. DuMond, 79, of Edgewater FL passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 at Emory Bennett VA Nursing Home in Daytona Beach, FL after an extended illness. He was born October 11, 1945 in Cortland, NY to Harold and Ruth (Wire) DuMond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Teddy Lockwood; sisters, Peggy McCall, Millie Petrella, and Shirley Withey.
He is survived by his wife, Renee; sister, Sareta Leet of Cortland, NY; son Raymond M. DuMond Jr.(Susan) of Edgewater; son, Ronald S. DuMond of Marcellus, NY; son, Randy S. DuMond (Abbey) of Baldwinsville, NY; daughter, Julie (Norm) Crouch of Edgewater; daughter, Stephanie (Joel Nielson) Shue of Edgewater; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many friends who will all miss him dearly.
Ray served in the US Army as a demolitions expert during the Vietnam conflict and was a highly respected member of a Green Beret “A” Team. He earned many service medals and was awarded The Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He was honorably discharged in 1969. After his departure from military service, he started his own successful trucking business.
Friends and family will gather Tuesday, December 17, from 11 am -1 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home - Port Orange, 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange for a Celebration of Ray's Life. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
