Michael (Mike) Walker, a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa lost his long battle with COPD on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the age of 63.Mike was born in Bristol, TN to Fernando and Charlotte Walker. He lived in his childhood home in Holston Valley, TN, spending as much time as he could fishing, playing in the surrounding woods and creek, and pitching on his Little League baseball team. He attended Sullivan East High School where he met his wife of 42 yrs. After their marriage they resided in Piney Flats, TN. He became a certified ASE mechanic while working at Bill Gatton Honda. After moving to Daytona Beach in 1986, then to Port Orange in 1987, he continued to work as a mechanic until he made a career change and went to work at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He eventually became responsible for the athletic fields and took great pride in keeping them maintained and mowing them in designs for the soccer and baseball teams. Everyone there knew him by his nickname “Country”.His first love was for his family, followed closely by fishing. He also loved the almost 10 years he spent coaching his daughter’s softball, basketball, and soccer teams for Port Orange Park & Rec. His main goals as a coach was to teach new skills, encourage good sportsmanship, but most importantly have fun. When his family discovered the activity of geocaching, he became known for his crafting and hiding of his signature unique containers and enjoyed Jeeping in the Ocala National Forest.He is survived by his wife, Libby, daughter Meghan, son-in-law Koby, and his pride and joy, grandson Nash. Also, brother Matthew (Teresa) Walker, Bluff City, TN, sister Tanya (Mark) Hutton, Bristol, TN, several nieces and nephews.At Mikes request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, he asked that everyone spend time with loved ones making memories and having fun.
