John C. Stoddart, age 82, passed away peacefully in his home, March 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 19, 1932 in Redlands, CA. John was a Veteran of the U.S.Army serving honorably in the Korean War, where he was a Sgt. in the Medical Core. He graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1952 and spent over 50 years in Funeral Service. He was General Manager of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home for 7 years; he then returned to San Diego, CA as General Manager with SCI and retired there in 1998. He returned to Daytona in 1998 working at Sears, Sam’s, and WalMart where he will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of animals and big heart. He is preceded in death by 1 step-son, Jamey Plemons. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sue Stoddart and his step-great grandson Peyton Cain whom he raised, 4 children Michael Stoddart, Kathy (Jim) Dolensik, Diane (Alan) Parchmen, and Phil (Christy) Stoddart, 1 step-daughter, Lisa Gunn, 6 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 step-great grandchildren and host of friends. He enjoyed life and all its pleasures. Some of his favorite things were the beach, his dog, wine, reading, investments, entertaining, and his family. A Visitation will take place Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 3:00-4:00p.m., at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL., with a Celebration of Life immediately following at 4:00p.m. Minister Gary McCain will officiate.
