

James Jay Bridgman (Jay), 73, of Port Orange, FL (formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL) passed away on November 2, 2021 at the South Volusia Hospice Care Center after a year long battle. He was born on March 14, 1948 to Glover and Jim Bridgman in Lackawanna, NY. They moved to Florida when Jay was a child. He graduated from Ft. Lauderdale High School and went on to Florida State University.
He was a kind, loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.
Jay is survived by his wife of 49 years Judy; son, Brian; brother, Mark of Debary; sister, Jill Frayne (Dan) of Cape Coral, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Glover and James Jay, along with his brother Jeff.
As a Florida State alumni, he was an avid dedicated Seminole fan and you could find Jay many a Saturday rooting them on. He also loved playing golf with his son.
Jay spent his entire career in the automobile industry, working in Ft. Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, Deland, and Orange City. He was very successful at the many positions he mastered. He worked for Gary Fronrath and Adams Chevrolet in Broward county as well as Fred Bondesen in Daytona Beach and Deland. Most recently, he owned a lot in Orange City, Central Auto Sales of Orange City, with his brother Mark.
He was very well respected and will be missed by all that loved him. Viewing will be held 2pm-4pm on Sunday, November 7th in the chapel at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange, with a funeral service beginning at 4pm.
