Howie was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, and graduated from Paxon High School where he played football. He moved to Port Orange, FL, with his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann where they raised their children Scott and Shannon.
Howie spent his life as a subcontractor building commercial condos and various commercial projects in Daytona Beach and surrounding areas. He enjoyed coaching many local youth sport teams. He looked forward every year to speck fishing season and college football, especially the Florida Gators.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and his daughter, Shannon Thomas (Shane.) He is predeceased by his mother Ola Mae Jenkins, father Harold R Johnson, sister Melva Wright and son Scott R Johnson and many dear lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL, on October 8. Visitation will be from 11-12 pm and the service will begin at 12 pm led by Chaplain Mark Spivey. Thank you to everyone that enriched his life.
