Funeral services for Gerald F. Barry 94, of Port Orange, Fl., who died September 5, 2011 at Halifax Health Hospice, will be held (September 29, 8:30 AM ) at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4550 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, Fl. Born in Luzerne, PA, he was the son of Thomas and Catherine Barry. He graduated from Luzerne High School and attended Springhill College, Alabama for two years before entering the service. Jerry served with the US Army during World War II, first seeing action in North Africa. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a fourth-degree and life-time member of the Knight of Columbus. He was supportive of many charities and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, the former Irene Lavage (Barry); daughter, Anne Juba; son, Thomas Barry; brother, Jack Barry and grandchildren, Christopher Barry, Mackenzie Barry and Marc Juba. Jerry worked as a Real Estate Analyst for the State of Pennsylvania. He was known for his Irish wit, sense of humor and most of all as a faithful and loving husband and father.
