Gene G. Martin, 68, of Spruce Creek Fly In (formerly of Lincoln, IL) passed away July 23, 2018. Born October 28, 1949 in Oak Park, IL, Gene was a cement contractor by trade but found his passions in flying, politics, and operating a trading post on Route 66 during his time in Illinois. A man with a sense of humor, he always kept his family laughing or rolling their eyes at his jokes. Gene is survived by his wife, Vicki Childs; daughters, Ruth Dukeman and Carrie (Kyle) Chitty; brothers, Ted (Kay) Martin and Bill (Sue) Martin; sisters, Barb Martin and Molly (Zachary) Henrichs; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Dukeman, Adeline Chitty, Harper Chitty, and Archer Chitty; cousins Cathy Scheck, Jim Martin, as well as many other cousins.
A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held at 11am Monday, July 30th at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Drive, Port Orange. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9am until service time. Interment will follow at the Spruce Creek Cemetery, located within the Fly In.
